Nearly three months ago, members of the Portland City Council sat quietly as they listened to a litany of troubling complaints about an abandoned Arbor Lodge bar taken over by squatters.
The illegal occupants of the former Farmer’s Barn Tavern on North Denver Avenue had physically assaulted nearby residents and threatened people with guns, said Dusty McCord, who lives in the neighborhood. They had chopped down trees to build fires.
