Kaiyo pushes the boundaries of maturation experimentation, with all of the brand’s releases spending three months aging at sea in Mizunara oak barrels. This particular expression also ages for three years (on land) prior to the voyage, and six years after — all in Mizunara casks. Those iconic casks lend a signature incense character to the whisky’s aromas, while bold fruit and malt notes define the palate.
