A project, involving two Italian wine masterclasses, has been launched by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the UK (ICCIUK) to shine a light on authentic Italian produce.
The masterclasses, organised in collaboration with Gambero Rosso, will be entitled ‘Italy in a nutshell’ and will focus on the wines that won the Tre Bicchieri accolade and have been included in the ‘Italian wine bible’ Vini d’Italia.
As part of what the ICCIUK calls the ‘True Italian Taste’ project, the goal for the masterclasses is to raise awareness for authentic Italian wines while tackling the ‘Italian-sounding phenomenon’ – or rather, products that ‘seem’ or ‘sound’ Italian, but are produced elsewhere.
Historically, the ICCIUK has organised several events under the ‘True Italian Taste’ banner such as food fairs, cooking classes and educational activities.
The hour-long masterclasses will take place on 23 September at Hackney Town Hall, during the Tre Bicchieri Tour, with the first one beginning at 12.30pm and the second taking place at 3pm.
During the masterclasses, attendees will have the opportunity to browse and taste wines from 38 of the best Italian wineries, brought to London by Gambero Rosso and the classes are targeted at people within the food and drink industry who want to learn more about authentic Italian wine. The ‘True Italian Taste’ project is part of the ‘The Extraordinary Italian Taste’ programme and has been supported and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, It is the joint effort of Assocamerestero and the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad and is bringing its events to London in an effort to safeguard and promote true Italian products.
