Northern Monk, an independent beer producer based in Leeds, has teamed up with wood stain and paint company Ronseal to create no-nonsense beer which “does exactly what it says on the tin”.
The tagline, which was first used by the paint company in 1994, has been adopted for the new partnership to reflect both Northern Monk and Ronseal‘s shared no-nonsense ethos.
Two beers have been created by the brewer and colour matched with Ronseal’s Fence Life shades. The first, named Harvest Gold, is a 5.8% ABV saison retailing at £4.60. Medium Oak, the second brew in the collaboration, is a 4.0% ABV best bitter priced at £4.00
According to Drinks Retailing News, head brewer Brian Dickson said: “We’re great fans of Ronseal and their straightforward approach, and wanted to capture that with approachable beers that everyone could enjoy while highlighting our shared Northern no-nonsense sensibilities.”
Northern Monk’s partnership with Ronseal marks the beer producer’s first collaboration with a DIY brand. The brewer has previously partnered with food and drinks brands including Henderson’s Relish, Seabrook Crisps and Aunt Bessie.
Harvest Gold and Medium Oak were released in time for the August bank holiday weekend, and are available to purchase via Northern Monk’s online store and from selected stockists.
Ronseal’s senior brand manager, Tobie Lewis said: “It’s the final Bank Holiday of the year, and lots of people will be working on DIY projects at home and in their gardens, so they’ll want to reward themselves with a beer when they’ve completed their handiwork.”
