Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan ended the final sprint event of the World Athletics Championships with another stunning finish. Amusan won the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a finish of 12.06 seconds.
Amusan broke the world record for the event just earlier in the day with a run of 12.12. The final had too much wind for the time to count as a new record.
Jamaica’s Britany Anderson took second place in 12.23. Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the Tokyo Olympics champion, was third in 12.23.
The previous world record was 12.20, set by American Kendra Harrison in 2016. Harrison, who was the favorite for the final, did not finish the race after hitting multiple hurdles.
Alia Armstong, also of Team USA, finished fourth in 12.31.
