Oregon State added to its 2023-24 women’s basketball roster Thursday when California transfer Sela Heide signed with the Beavers.
The 6-foot-7 Heide, who played three years at California, is the daughter of two former Beaver athletes, Jason Heide and Sissel (Pierce) Heide. She has two years of eligibility remaining.
Heide fills a need as Oregon State loses 6-9 Jelena Mitrovic from last year’s team. Mitrovic earned a bachelor’s degree after playing for OSU for three years and decided to turn professional.
Heide, who prepped at Mount Si High in North Bend, Wash, averaged 1.1 blocked shots during her 22-game Bears career. After missing most of her sophomore season with an injury, Heide played in 11 games during the 2022-23 season, averaging 1.8 points a game.
Heide’s parents played basketball at Oregon State, Jason from 1997-2001, Sissel 1996-2000.
With Heide, Oregon State has 11 players on scholarship for the 2023-24 season. Heide is the third addition to the team, as she joins incoming freshmen Kennedi Shuler and Donovyn Hunter.
