Oregon State steeplechasers Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Kaylee Mitchell finished right together at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday night in Austin, Texas.
Fetherstonhaugh crossed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final in 9 minutes, 49.48 seconds to pick up three team points for Oregon State, and fellow Beavers senior Mitchell was just behind in seventh at 9:49.66 to score two points for OSU.
Notre Dame’s Olivia Markezich kicked past Cal Baptist’s Greta Karinauskaite on the final lap to win the steeplechase in 9:25.03. Karinauskaite easily held on for second place, finishing in 9:30.85.
Oregon State’s Jade Whitfield also gave the Beavers a point in the women’s discus, placing eighth with a best throw of 189 feet, 1 inch.
