Bodegas Peñascal in Valladolid has launched an ‘ethical’ rosé at its carbon-neutral winery that donates 10% of its profits to the conservation of coral reefs.
According to its makers, Coral Ethical Rosé is an “elegant and delicate” organic and vegan-friendly rosé packaged in an “ultra-lightweight” bottle that uses recycled and recyclable materials.
It has “delicate aromas of white flowers, peach, apricot and grapefruit” and pairs well with salads, sushi, pasta dishes.
Committed to sustainability, the brand donates 10% of its profits to the restoration and conservation of coral reefs, which represent 25% of marine biodiversity.
“Coral Ethical Rosé is aimed at consumers for whom quality and sustainability are affordable at the same time.
“At every stage of the process we aim to make the best choices for the environment, from sourcing organically grown grapes, to packaging in sustainable, lightweight materials and donating 10% of the profits to coral restoration projects,” said marketing director Daniel Moreno.
Over 500 million people across the world depend directly on coral reefs to obtain food, income and for coastal protection.
Coral Ethical Rosé works with the Coral Restoration Foundation, which manages the world’s largest coral reef restoration project.
Over the next three years, the aim is to plant more than a million corals to recover 93,000 m2 of reefs – the equivalent of 52 football fields.
