Oregon’s best hitters came through with big hits in a pair of wins in San Diego.
Terra McGowan went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs in a 9-4 Ducks win over Loyola Marymount and McGowan, Allee Bunker and KK Humphreys all drove in runs in a 6-4 win for No. 24 Oregon over host San Diego State Saturday night.
Against LMU, the Lions scored first on an RBI single off Morgan Scott. McGowan hit a two-run home run and Humphreys followed with a solo shot to give Oregon a 3-1 lead after one.
McGowan hit a two-run single and a wild pitch allowed a third UO run to score to make it 6-1 after two. Karissa Ornelas and McGowan each hit RBI singles in the third to make it 8-1.
LMU hit back-to-back doubles in the fourth off Raegan Breedlove and Elise Sokolsky to cut the gap to 8-4. Ariel Carlson hit a solo home run to get a run back in the bottom of the inning.
Scott allowed a run on five hits in 1.1 innings, Breedlove allowed three runs on a hit and two walks over 2.0 innings and Sokolsky gave up a hit and walk over 2.0 innings of winning relief before Stevie Hansen allowed a hit and struck out four over 1.2 innings to close it out.
Against SDSU, Kedre Luschar broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the top of the fourth with an RBI single.
Bunker hit a two-run single to make it 3-0 in the fifth.
Hansen worked around jams with two on in the fourth and fifth before eventually giving up a pair of runs in the sixth. She allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out four over 5.2 innings in the win.
McGowan and Humphreys each hit RBI singles in the top of the seventh and another run scored on an error. The Aztecs hit a two-run home run off Breedlove and got the tying run aboard with one out, but Scott induced a double play to end the game.
Oregon (7-2) wraps up its weekend against UC Riverside at 10 a.m. Sunday.
