“The Safest Place” series published last year by The Oregonian/OregonLive won three first place awards in the 2023 Best of the West journalism competition.
The four-part series, published in December, won the project reporting category. The entry was articles by reporter Noelle Crombie, photography by Beth Nakamura and a video story booth by videographer Samantha Swindler.
