For two days only, thousands of roses are on display around the Lloyd Center ice rink for the 2022 Portland Rose Society’s 132nd annual Spring Rose Show. It’s the largest and oldest rose show in the country and has long been part of the city’s Rose Festival activities.
Early Thursday morning, gardeners had taken over the former Gap store in mall, where they fussed over their flowers before setting them out in vases and arrangements for judging. Inside the former clothing store, they trimmed leaves and used cotton swabs or paint brushes to gently push their rose pedals into more symmetrical arrangements.
