Wilderness Trail manages to coax out an incredibly herbaceous, minty note from the rye used in this bourbon’s mash bill. It’s so distinctive on the nose yet doesn’t stick out — in a good way — on the palate. Instead, it lends a gentle spice and menthol kick, while the balance between flavor and alcohol is absolutely on point. This is a really exciting distillery whose whiskeys consistently deliver. Keep an eye on their releases, if they aren’t already on your radar.
