There’s a small amount of narration in “Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness,” a two-part PBS documentary executive produced by Ken Burns. But the principal voices are those of young people who share their personal experiences dealing with mental health challenges. More than 10 people, ages ranging from 11 to 27, speak movingly about their struggles with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and more. In addition, mental health experts, healthcare providers, parents, teachers, and friends talk about how difficult it can be to find help, whether it’s a matter of accessing treatment or getting an accurate diagnosis.
The two-part, four-hour documentary begins at 10 p.m. Monday, June 27, on PBS, and concludes Tuesday, June 28, at 9 p.m.
