Authorities arrested a suspect in an alleged hostage situation in Southeast Portland Monday afternoon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
East Precinct officers conducting a welfare check around noon in the 3800 block of Southeast 105th Avenue learned that there might be a hostage trapped inside a nearby home.
Officers called for backup from crisis negotiators and members of the bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team, then closed several area streets to traffic.
The suspect, who was not identified, surrendered Monday afternoon and will be booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on unspecified charges, the bureau reported.
