After just three sets of medals were given out on Friday, the second day of the World Athletics Championships was filled with a little more excitement.
Team USA brought home gold on Saturday, with Chase Ealey winning the shot put and Fred Kerley taking gold in the men’s 100-meter dash. In total, the United States leads the medal count with five.
Also on Saturday, Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey won the spectacular finish to the women’s 10,000-meter race and won the gold medal for her efforts.
In the hammer throw, Pawel Fajdek of Poland won his fifth consecutive world championship. China’s Jianan Wang won the men’s long jump, his first world gold.
