Oregon State’s contribution to the 2022 MLB Draft increased to six as catcher Gavin Logan, outfielder Wade Meckler and right-handed pitcher Will Frisch were selected Monday.
The Chicago Cubs grabbed Frisch in the sixth round with the No. 173 overall pick. Meckler went No. 256 overall, and in the eighth round to the San Francisco Giants. Two picks later at 258, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Logan.
Three Beavers went during Sunday Day 1 of the draft in pitcher Cooper Hjerpe and outfielders Wade Meckler and Justin Boyd.
Monday’s draft involved rounds 3 through 10. The draft wraps up Tuesday with rounds 11 through 20.
Frisch didn’t pitch this past season due to injury. In 2021, Frisch was 3-0 with a 2.38 earned run average in 20 games on the way to earning Freshman All-American honors.
Frisch was drafted in the 36th round by Minnesota in 2019 prior to entering Oregon State.
Meckler, a first-team all-Pac-12 2022 selection, batted .347 with 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 65 games last season.
Like Meckler, Logan was also first-team all-conference. Playing in 45 games, Logan hit .281 with 12 doubles and 36 RBI.
