American Kara Winger finished fourth overall with a best throw of 201 feet, one inch. Winger, who graduated from Skyview High School in Vancouver, Wash., won her ninth U.S. javelin title at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships last month.
Japan’s Haruka Kitaguchi led all qualifiers with a throw of 211 feet. China’s Shiying Lui was second at 209-5 and Lithuania’s Liveta Jasiunaite was third at 209-3. The final is scheduled for Friday.
