New vineyard estates in a range of styles, from modern farmhouse to forest lodge, with never-before-seen products will be unveiled Saturday at NW Natural Street of Dreams luxury home tour. For the first time, the 47-year-old summer event, which runs July 23-Aug. 14, will take place in Yamhill County.
People interested in building, buying or remodeling a house who attend the show will be able to learn about advanced construction techniques and the latest interior design trends. Elite Development Northwest’s Scandinavian-style Fika house has popular neutral colors, organic materials and acoustic-enhancing oak slat wall panels.
The area’s top builders, interior designers and landscape architects are showcasing new appliances and building materials such as the Marvin Awaken Skylight with four-sided ventilation that allows you to adjust the light and air circulation.

California Closets has a new wall bed that folds up and becomes a workspace with task lighting, device charging station and storage.
James Hardie debuts its new architectural collection of weather- and fire-resistant exterior panel siding and Portland-based Miller Paint’s new Northwest Color Collection has 132 colors inspired by the region such as gray-white Skier’s View and Moss Driftwood.
With a $20 ticket (streetofdreamspdx.com), attendees will be able to tour six residential properties, with expansive vineyard, valley, creek, farmland and forest views, valued up to $4.5 million.
The custom homes surpass Oregon’s building codes and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and other features reduce energy and water needs, and save on utility bills.
Even the largest residence at 6,714 square feet consumes less energy than a modest-size house constructed 20 to 30 years ago, say tour organizers with the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland.
Sustainable and energy-efficient approaches, like tankless water heaters with backup batteries, can be adapted to any home.
And, as always, the new houses selected to be on the Street of Dreams tour have plenty of wow factors.
Fittingly, the estates in Willamette Valley wine country are outfitted with ways to display and properly store bottles of Pinot noir and other grape varieties.
Tour goers will see a custom wall rack to hold a few hundred bottles as well as the Monogram Sommelier that stores red and white wines in two temperature zones and the new Plum Automatic Wine Dispenser, which pours wine by the glass and promises to keep the open bottle tasting fresh for 90 days.
The homes have places for owners and their guests to relax and enjoy libations, from the speakeasy-type lounge hidden in Del Boca Vista’s Hewn house to outdoor living spaces overlooking tidy rows of grapevines.
A home theater with an oversized screen, surround sound system and soundproof walls above the three-car garage at Secor Homes’ Creekside Craftsman house lets everyone settle in for a cinematic adventure.
Mike Riddle Construction shows that practical can still be pretty: The mudroom in the West Wind Farmhouse has a built-in dog shower and a locker for each member of the family.
Fold-away glass doors erase the boundaries between rooms and resort-like backyards equipped with a pizza oven, kegerator or sunken fire pit.
Builder Luke Belanger has four distinctive patios for his Vineyard View Lodge: Off of the great room, kitchen and primarily suite on the garden level, and there is a covered patio off of the daylight basement.
MODPools installed a pool repurposed from a shipping container into the back deck of Elite Development Northwest’s Laurelwood house. Check out the underwater window that frames the property’s acres of woodland.
The show’s main venue is Rose Pointe Estates outside Newberg. Three houses in the hilltop residential community developed by Del Boca Vista are open daily. Another new house, open daily, is nearby, and there are two custom homes in McMinnville that are open Fridays through Sundays. The self-paced, self-driving tour can be completed on different days.
