The Portland area started Saturday morning with low temps in the brisk 50s, but that’s about to change as a string of hot days heads our way.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday morning’s cloudy skies should clear up by the afternoon, with high temperatures approaching 80 degrees. Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, with an overnight low of 59.
Hot weather starts to sink in Sunday, when a high-pressure system sinks in, bringing hot air into the Pacific Northwest. The Portland area will see at least a week of days with high temperatures over 90 degrees. High temperatures are expected to peak mid-week. Wednesday’s high could hit 100.
If you want to escape the heat, heading to the coast may be your best option. Onshore flow will keep the coast cooler than inland, according to forecasters. But that onshore flow will fuel muggy conditions inland during the upcoming stretch of hot days.
