Between the boys, girls and the para-athlete races, there were 66 gold medals handed out this weekend at the OSAA swimming state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. There were also six state championships handed out to boys and girls teams in the 6A, 5A and 4A/3A/2A/1A classifications.
Take a look at some of the action from the weekend, covered and photographed by The Oregonian/OregonLive:
Jesuit sweeps Class 6A golds with a gutsy performance in the day’s final event
With a gold in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Jesuit’s boys overtook Nelson in the final moments of the Class 6A championships to take gold. The Crusaders’ girls team also took the state championship with a dominant showing.
Bend schools dominate the pool in Class 5A
The Summit boys and the Bend girls are bringing home gold at the Class 5A state championships, both teams (as all Bend schools did) competed at the 6A level the last few years and just moved back to Class 5A this year. Summit’s boys were led by Liam Gilman and his performance in the 100-yard breaststroke. Bend’s performances in the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays elevated the Lava Bears to the gold.
Catlin Gabel sweeps the competition in Class 4A/3A/2A/1A
The Eagles are no stranger to state championships, but this season was the first time that the Catlin Gabel boys and girls teams took home gold at the same time. Hodge Dauler and Adam Li came up big for the Catlin Gabel boys, while the girls were led by Adrienne Tam.
