Veteran big man Meyers Leonard is expected to sign a 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to a report Monday.
Leonard’s contract will likely mean the end of long stretch of not playing in the NBA.
The 7-foot Leonard has been out of the NBA since March 2021 after he uttered an antisemitic slur while playing a video game live stream. The NBA suspended him one week and fined him $50,000.
Leonard was playing for the Miami Heat at the time of the incident and the Heat traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who released him. Leonard said he had spent much of that time rehabbing from ankle and leg injuries.
Leonard, 30, was the 11th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2012 NBA draft. He spent his first seven seasons with the Trail Blazers.
