Founded by street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has become an internationally renowned circus entertainment company known for its death-defying acrobatics, beautiful costumes, and tantalizing story narratives. “Alegría”, the Spanish word for “jubilation”, is the title of Cirque’s latest show, promising a complex tale of monarchy, heritage, and youth. It originally premiered in Montreal in 1994 and was first directed by Belgian theatre director Franco Dragone. If you are looking for a preview, check out the trailer provided above.
