Oregon linebackers DJ Johnson and Noah Sewell showcased their speed at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Johnson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds, which tied for fourth among the 28 edge defenders, and Sewell finish in 4.64 seconds, tied for 13th among 16 inside linebackers who ran at Lucas Oil Stadium Thursday night.
Johnson’s 1.59-second 10-yard split tied for third among the same group of edge defenders.
At 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, Johnson’s speed is extraordinary for a player his size. The three edge players to run faster were all lighter weight while Northwestern’s Adetomiwa Adebawore (6-foot-2, 282 pounds) tied Johnson’s time and Louisville’s YaYa Diaby (6-foot-3, 263 pounds) ran the 40 in 4.51 seconds.
Johnson’s 32-inch vertical jump was tied for 20th out of 31 edge defenders who jumped, and his 9-foot-2 broad jump was tied for 29th among the same group.
Sewell’s 1.57-second 10-yard split was 12th among the 16 inside linebackers
His 33-inch vertical jump was tied for 8th out of 15 inside linebacker who jumped, and his 9-foot-7 broad jump was tied for 13th among the same group.
Neither ran the three-cone or 20-yard shuttle drill and Johnson didn’t take part in position drills, though it wasn’t immediately clear if he suffered a muscle injury.
