Medical examiners identified the 58-year-old man who died Friday following a fight at a Vancouver apartment complex as Marvin L. Pape Jr.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide, the office said in a press release Tuesday.
Vancouver police responded to reports of a disturbance at an apartment at 3311 E. 18th St. Friday. Police said that Pape entered the residence with a woman to pick up property, but he was “uninvited” and a fight ensued.
The resident was pummeled with a barstool and cane, police said. He then hit Pape, knocking him unconscious. Police found him that way when they arrived. Pape was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Police said the three people appeared to have known one another.
