Oregon hit three RBI doubles and got a career-long pitching performance from Raegan Breedlove to clinch a series win over Arizona State.
Five of eight hits by the No. 18 Ducks were doubles, including three with two outs, in a 5-2 win over the Sun Devils Saturday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.
Breedlove (3-3, 3.00 ERA) allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits, two walks and a hit batter over 6.0 innings. It was one of the best career starts for the junior right-hander, who overcame a tough opening inning and settled in for Oregon (27-11, 7-7 Pac-12).
A walk, hit batter and single loaded the bases for Arizona State (22-14, 5-9), who plated a run via an RBI ground out but stranded two in the first.
Terra McGowan and Alyssa Daniell hit back-to-back doubles to open the second and tie the game. Daniell later stole home to give Oregon the lead.
In the fifth, Hanna Delgado hit a two-out double to right to put two in scoring position for pinch hitter Ariel Carlson, who followed with a double of her own to make it 4-1.
Jazmine Hill hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the inning and ASU got the tying run in scoring position, but Breedlove ended the threat by getting a fly ball to right.
Kedre Luschar hit a two-out single and KK Humphreys doubled her home in the sixth to make Oregon 4 for 11 with two outs on the day.
Marissa Schuld allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk and struck out four for ASU.
Morgan Scott closed out the seventh to pick up her fourth save of the season for Oregon, which will go for the series sweep at 2 p.m. Sunday.
