For the second straight day Oregon rallied to come back and beat Gonzaga.
Gavin Grant went 3 for 3 with four RBIs and Drew Smith drove in three for the No. 23 Ducks in a 10-5 win over the Bulldogs Wednesday night at PK Park.
Sam Stem’s three-run home run in the first gave Gonzaga (14-24) a lead it held onto through four innings.
Grant singled in a pair in the second to get Oregon (28-12) on the board. Rikuu Nishida drove in a run via a sacrifice bunt that tied the game and Smith singled home Grant to give UO a 4-3 lead after five.
Turner Spoljaric (4-0) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks and struck out three over 5.0 innings in the win for Oregon. Logan Mercado allowed one hit in a scoreless sixth inning and Matt Dallas struck out a pair and allowed one hit over 2.0 innings.
Grant added an RBI single in the sixth, Smith hit a solo home run in the seventh and they each drove in runs as part of a four-run eighth to make it 10-3.
Matthew Mueller (2-3) allowed two runs on three walks in 2.1 innings of relief in the loss and Everett Swaim allowed five runs on five hits and a walk over 2.0 innings for GU.
UO’s Logan Olson couldn’t find the strike zone in the ninth and allowed two singles and three walks, the last forcing in a run, before getting the hook after 0.1 IP for Austin Anderson. He too walked in a run, which was charged to Olson, before ending the threat.
The Ducks host a three-game series with No. 17 Arizona State beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.
