Kansas City’s thrilling win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII propelled the telecast of the game to a new viewership record, according to a report Tuesday.
The game attracted a Super Bowl all-time record average audience of 115.1 million viewers, according to updated numbers from Nielsen Media Research via frontofficesports.com. The number includes viewers from Fox Sports, Fox Deportes and digital streaming.
The updated numbers show that the 2023 Super Bowl topped the previous record of 114.4 million viewers who watched the New England Patriots defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49 in 2015.
Nielsen had previously reported Kansas City’s 38-35 win had attracted 113.5 million viewers, but added nearly two million more viewers after a review “revealed irregularities in the encoding that enables Nielsen’s measurement of TV viewing and unspecified issues with out-of-home measurement of Super Bowl LVII,” according to the report.
