Saturday Night Live is on yet another hiatus, though this time ti appears the rest of the season will be canceled. While Pete Davidson, Kieran Culkin, and Jennifer Coolidge were set to host the remaining episodes of SNL, those episodes have been canceled due to the current writer’s strike. Instead of being on tonight, Saturday, May 6 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC, viewers will see repeat episodes and will have to be patient until next season.
What is the writer’s strike?
The Writers Guild of America, the union of writers who create television shows and movies in Hollywood, were in negotiations with Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Unfortunately, no resolution has yet to be found so the writers went on strike when their contract expired on May 1. The writers on strike are seeking improved working conditions and acknowledgments amid the changing world of online streaming.
