All Amtrak trains between Portland and Seattle have been canceled due to a landslide, triggered Monday as a sudden downpour soaked the region.
Amtrak made the announcement Monday afternoon, saying service would be disrupted through Wednesday. The railway said alternative transportation options are being offered but will be limited.
The landslide happened in Washington between Kelso and Vancouver. BNSF Railway, which owns the railroad, issued a moratorium on passenger trains in the area, Amtrak said. Cancellations will affect Amtrak’s Cascades and Coast Starlight routes.
Trains will continue to run between Portland and Eugene, and between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.
