Tom Brady says he’s retired “for good” from the NFL, but he’s maintaining a connection with the league.
The former star quarterback has agreed to a deal to become a minority owner with the Las Vegas Raiders. Raiders owner Mark Davis acknowledged an agreement for the future Hall of Fame player to become a minority owner, pending NFL approval.
“We have come to an agreement for Tom Brady to become a partner in the Raiders and we have submitted it to the NFL for approval,” Davis told espn.com “We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders.”
If approved by 23 of the league’s 31 other owners, Brady would become just the third former player in league history to acquire an ownership stake in a team. Jerry Richardson, the founding owner of the Carolina Panthers, was a tight end with the Baltimore Colts. George Halas was a player, coach and owner with the Chicago Bears.
Brady retired in February after 23 seasons as a quarterback with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won six Super Bowls with the Patriots and won a seventh with the Buccaneers.
