Police identified seven possible victims of human trafficking during a targeted mission last Thursday along Northeast 82nd Avenue, the Portland Police Bureau said Wednesday. Officers also arrested 12 people for sexual solicitation and towed two cars.
In response to a “significant number of complaints” from people who live and work in the area, the bureau’s Human Trafficking Unit zeroed in on 82nd Avenue between Tillamook and Prescott streets, according to police. Officials said officers offered to help the seven possible trafficking victims connect with city services and victims’ advocates.
Police said “limited resources” restricted their ability to find more possible trafficking victims but that they plan to conduct additional missions this summer.
