Dan Lanning is getting a contract extension.
The Executive and Audit committee of the University of Oregon’s Board of Trustees will meet Thursday morning to address the proposed extension for the Ducks’ second-year football coach. The terms of the extension are yet to be provided.
Lanning signed a six-year, $29.1 million in December 2022. He earned $4.6 million in salary last season, plus $100,000 for winning nine regular season games and $100,000 for appearing in the Holiday Bowl. His existing contract called for his salary to increase to $4.7 million this year and increase by $100,000 in each subsequent year.
Lanning’s buyout to leave UO, which was $14 million through Jan. 31, decreased to $10 million through Jan. 31, 2024 and is set to go down each year to $7 million, $3 million, $2 million and $1 million, respectively. That figure will likely increase as part of the new extension.
