By now, none of us are strangers to inflation. From skyrocketing grocery prices to mind-boggling rents, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to find the spare cash to spend on ticketed events, especially when their prices are increasing just as quickly. And with the NBA season set to tip off next week, some fans may be in for a shock when they hit Ticketmaster — as well as their local arena’s bar.
According to calculations from Bookies.com, the average cost of attending an NBA game during the 2023-2024 season has increased by approximately 17 percent year-over-year. The sports analysis platform weighed the average cost of attendance for a family of four to attend a home game for each of the 30 NBA teams based on lowest ticket price, parking fees, two 16-ounce beers, two 20-ounce sodas, and four hot dogs.
In addition to the Golden State Warriors topping the list as the most expensive NBA game to attend overall, the California team also boasts some of the most expensive court-side brews. Based on Bookies.com’s findings, the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors have the most expensive beers in professional basketball at their home arenas, coming in at an average of $19.87 and $19.01 respectively for a 16-ounce pour. Rounding out the top three is the Denver Nuggets, with a 16-ounce beer costing $16.93. On the other side of the spectrum, the Cleveland Cavaliers have the cheapest beer in the league at just $5.78 per brew.
