The Decanter Retailer Awards recognises and celebrates the very best wine retailers in the UK and offers wine drinkers an indispensable guide to outstanding retail experiences across the nation.
The 2022 edition will see the judging panel grow with six independent wine experts reviewing entries, including returning Chairman Peter Richards MW, Laura Clay, Andy Howard MW, and three new judges: Michelle Cherutti-Kowal MW, Vidya Narasimhan and Regine Lee MW.
From the best neighbourhood wine shops to national retailers, in-store and online, the judges will examine entries across three stages of judging to award excellence across quality, value, range and service.
Categories range from national and regional titles, to specialist and wine support services. New for 2022, Decanter Retailer Awards has introduced a Hybrid Wine Retailer category for retailers that sell wine to take away or enjoy in store. See all categories available to enter →
Charity support
In 2020 and 2021 the Decanter Retailer Awards donated all proceeds from the awards to UK drinks industry charities The Drinks Trust and The Ben. With additional donations made by Decanter, the awards have raised a total of £61k for charity.
Again for 2022, proceeds from the Decanter Retailer Awards will be donated to charity. Learn more about last year’s donations →
In response to last year’s entries, Chairman Peter Richards MW commented, ‘In the nine years I’ve been chairing these awards, I’ve never seen such a dynamic, exciting, heart-warming set of entries.
‘Covid-19 has changed wine retailing forever – in many ways for the better. It’s hastened change, opened the market up to positive disruption, and led to a boom in sales and innovation. Now is a great time to be a wine lover in the UK.’
Entries for the Decanter Retailer Awards 2022 are open now until 17 June 2022, with results announced across all of Decanter’s digital and print platforms from 27 September.
