A 58-year-old Welches man who was reported missing over the weekend was found dead Monday near Molalla, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Rodney Wayne Looney was reported missing by his brother after the two went on Sunday to spread the ashes of a loved one near a tree that they planted when they were children, near South Lais Road and South Dickey Prairie Road in Clackamas County. Looney got separated from his brother and family members were unable to find him, the sheriff’s office said.
Search and rescue volunteers with the sheriff’s office and the Portland Mountain Rescue team located Looney’s body Monday evening in a wooded area nearby, the sheriff’s office said.
Looney’s cause of death is under investigation, but the sheriff’s office said it appears he died of a medical condition.
