Brady Ware had an incredible day on the baseball diamond Friday, pitching a no-hitter and also hitting for the cycle in the same game to lead his University of Indianapolis Greyhounds to a 13-0 rout of visiting Drury University.
Ware, a graduate student from Poway, California, went 4 for 4 at the plate, hitting a solo home run and a three-run triple in the second inning, an RBI double in the third and a leadoff single in the fifth.
On the mound, Ware struck out 11 and issued five walks but did not allow a hit. He threw 110 pitches and improved to 2-1 on the season for the NCAA Division II Greyhounds (17-11).
Not bad, considering Ware said he showed up late for pregame on Friday.
“I was about 15 minutes late today, so I’ll be about 15 minutes late every day from now on,” Ware joked in a video that the Greyhounds posted to Twitter.
Ware’s huge performance came in the second game of a doubleheader. Indianapolis beat Drury (20-16) of Missouri 8-7 in the first game.
