Crater senior Tyrone Gorze put on quite a show on Friday night at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field, finishing first in the boys two-mile race with a time of eight minutes, 46.5 seconds.
The time is good for second-best in state history, beating out the time of 8:49.98 set by South Medford’s Michael Maiorano last year. The state record is 8:41.5, set by Oregon legend Steve Prefontaine (running for Marshfield) in 1969.
