Launched in time for Christmas, the Marks and Spencer festive light-up Blood Orange Gin has inspired looks from some of the biggest names from UK Drag Race, including Ella Vaday, Vanity Milan and Victoria Scone.
The three drag queens have teamed up with the high street retailer on a nw campaign, creating looks inspired by the festive tipple.
Each queen has posted a video on their Instagram page showing off a new look. Ella Vaday’s Christmas costume takes inspiration from The Nutcracker, complete with dangly Nutcracker earrings and a large flower adorning her head.
Vanity Milan’s outfit takes inspiration from the gold colour of the gin’s bottle, as her transformation is complete with a halo-like gold headpiece and jewel-covered dress.
One fan commented on the Instagram video saying “the bottle is almost as gorgeous as you”. Has Vanity got some competition from a gin bottle?
Victoria Scone made history as the first cisgender female contestant on any series of the Drag Race franchise. Her M&S gin-inspired look featured a bottle draped in fairy lights atop her head, made to look as if her hair is pouring out of it. Dried orange slices are stuck to both her hair and head.
Fans commenting on Instagram called the look both “camp” and “glam”, and one even likened her look to singer Adele.
M&S released its gin liqueur snow globes and a light-up chocolate box back in September 2021, giving customers a long run up to Christmas to purchase the festive themed creations.
Joining the popular Clementine gin liqueur this year is an appropriately festive Spiced Sugar Plum gin flavour. The supermarket has also added its first rum liqueur to the line, flavoured with Madagascan Vanilla. Read more on that here.
