A Hillsboro police officer was injured after being hit by another driver while in a patrol car with his K9 Thursday night.
The officer was released from a hospital with minor injuries and the dog was not injured in the crash.
Just before midnight, the officer was driving north on Southeast 12th Avenue near Oak Street when a fast-moving vehicle struck the patrol car from the side. Photos from the crash show the police car with heavy damage to the driver’s side, and police said the other vehicle was significantly damaged as well.
Two people were in the other car, and were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
It’s unclear what caused the crash. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
