A dry and warm day is expected throughout the metro area Sunday, with light morning wind from the north and a high temperature of 84 degrees expected, the National Weather Service said.
The east side of the Cascades between Mount Jefferson and Mount Hood have had some light showers early Sunday, and a slight chance of thundershowers continues in the area through the mid-morning then returning in the afternoon.
A marine layer has brought gray to the Oregon coast and Coast Range valleys Sunday morning, mostly south of Eugene, but sun is expected to break through by afternoon.
Metro area clouds are expected to build later Sunday and into Monday morning. But cloudy skies early Monday will give way to a mostly sunny day that’s slightly cooler, with the high only expected to reach 76 degrees. Light, northerly winds are expected again Monday afternoon.
Warmer temperatures are forecast to return as the week progresses, with the weather service predicting highs of 80 on Tuesday gradually climbing to 89 on Friday then hitting 95 on Saturday.
No precipitation is anticipated throughout the week, with mostly sunny skies dominating.
