Jenna Prandini has yet win an Olympic or world championship medal in a 200-meter race during her career.
The former Oregon Ducks’ star took a step toward achieving her goal after advancing to the semifinal round of the event at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field Monday night. Prandini finished second in her heat in the 200-meters, posting a time of 22.38 seconds.
Prandini was one of three Americans to advance to the semifinals, scheduled for Tuesday. Abby Steiner (22.26 seconds) and Tamara Clark (22.27 seconds) also advanced to the semifinal round.
Jamaican star Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, who won the 100-meter title on Sunday, led a powerful trio into the semifinal round, posting a time of 22.26 seconds. Elaine Thompson-Herah (22.41 seconds) and Shericka Jackson (22.33 seconds) also moved through to the semifinal round.
