Highly successful professional distance running coach Jerry Schumacher has accepted the University of Oregon’s head track and field and cross country coaching position. Ducks athletic director Rob Mullens officially announced the high-profile hire on Monday.
Schumacher has been coach of the Portland-based, Nike-sponsored Bowerman Track Club for the past 15 years. He succeeds Robert Johnson, whose contract was not renewed at the conclusion of the outdoor season.
