A second person has died in the June 23 shooting that killed 29-year-old Fortressen O. Oriakhi of Gresham in Northeast Portland.
Police said Monday that 25-year-old Isidahomen Ikhuoria of Lagos, Nigeria, died June 30 from gunshot wounds sustained a week earlier in the Hollywood neighborhood shooting.
Gunfire around 2:30 a.m. drew officers to Northeast Broadway and Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard, where they found a car had crashed into a pole. Oriakhi was dead behind the wheel, police said, and Ikhuoria was his passenger. Both had been shot.
An ambulance took Ikhuoria to a hospital, where he died.
Their deaths mark the 41st and 42nd homicides in Portland in 2023, which has so far seen 43rd homicides compared with 44 homicides at this point last year.
