Oregon high school state records are not safe when Lake Oswego’s Mia Brahe-Pedersen hits the track.
During the second day of the Three Rivers League district championship meet on Friday, the Laker team of Ana Peters, Marina Turpen, Brahe-Pedersen and Josie Donelson broke another state record with a finish of three minutes, 49.83 seconds in the girls 4×400-meter relay.
The time breaks the record of 3:49.97 set by Benson’s Alex Jones, Sara Callier, Deborah Jones, Brandi Probasco-Canda which has been standing since 2003.
Peters hasn’t been competing for the Lake Oswego relay team much this spring, but filled in for Riley Ha.
This is the second time this season that the Lake Oswego crew has taken down a state record. At the Oregon Relays, the same group won the girls 4×200-meter relay in 1:39.96, a state record. Their season-best time of 47.15 in the girls 4×100-meter relay is fourth all-time in Oregon. Benson’s state record in the event is 46.53.
Brahe-Pedersen has created her fair share of terror this spring, as she’s also set new state records in the girls 100-meter dash (11.08) and the 200-meter dash (22.61).
