A driver died Friday night when his vehicle sideswiped a semitractor-trailer on Northeast Marine Drive near Broughton Beach in Portland, according to a release from the Portland Police Bureau.
At about 8:30 p.m., two Multnomah County deputies saw a vehicle speeding near the 4700 block of Marine Drive. A little while later they were flagged down by another driver who saw the accident and said the vehicle went off the road. The deputies found an unresponsive man on the northside embankment and called for emergency services while attempting first aid, but the man was dead. No one else was injured in the crash.
Portland police closed Northeast Marine Drive between 33rd and 122nd avenues while they investigated the crash scene. They ask anyone with information about the incident to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 23-51097.
