The Oregon State Beavers host the Nevada Wolf Pack Wednesday night in the finale of a two-game midweek college baseball series at Goss Stadium.
Nevada won Tuesday’s opener 5-1, handing the Beavers their third consecutive defeat. After a hot start to the season, OSU’s offense has fizzled, scoring five or fewer runs in seven of the last nine games — including five combined runs over the last three games.

This and that: The Beavers only had one losing streak stretch three or more games last season. They lost four in a row in May, dropping two of three against Arizona and UCLA in the final two series of the regular season. … One of the few bright spots in Tuesday’s loss was the continued dominance of the OSU bullpen. Beavers relievers allowed just one run on five hits — while striking out 16 — over 8 1/3 innings. The bullpen fanned 13 of the final 16 batters it faced Tuesday, including nine in a row over the last three innings. … Tyler Mejia faced six batters, striking out all six. … Oregon State’s bullpen has been light’s out this season, compiling a 7-0 record, 2.23 ERA and 78 strikeouts — with just 56 hits — in 68 2/3 innings. It has been especially good in March, going 3-0 with a 1.36 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. … Oregon State is in the midst of its biggest offensive slump since the 2021 season. The last time the Beavers were held to five runs over three games was May 2021, when they scored five in losses to Arizona and Stanford (twice). And the last time OSU was held to 10 or fewer runs over four games was April 2021, when it scored just eight in losses to Gonzaga and Oregon (three).
