If you missed “65,” the epic featuring Adam Driver, dinosaurs and woodsy Oregon locations, when it played in theaters, now you have another chance to watch the action. The film is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Roku and more.
The plot of “65″ finds Driver playing Commander Mills, who undertakes a space mission as a means of earning enough money to pay for life-saving medical care for his daughter. When his craft crashes on another planet, it strands Mills and the only other survivor, a girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt).
The two must then fight to survive against dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, because it turns out they’ve crash-landed on Earth — as it was 65 million years ago.
To play the role of prehistoric Earth, the production turned to locations in Ireland, Louisiana and Oregon, in such places as Meyer’s Creek Beach, in Gold Beach; Coos Bay; Whaleshead Beach, in Brookings; Agness; and Elk Creek Falls.
To promote “65,” Driver was a guest on late-night talk shows, including an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” during which Driver and Meyers discussed why Oregon and Louisiana were ideal locations for Earth as it was 65 million years ago.
According to the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & TV, during filming of “65,” the production spent $1.5 million in payroll on Oregon crew members; 528,403 on coastal hotel and accommodations; $39,500 on Curry County location fees; and more than $20,000 on food and restaurants.
The film is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”). The “65″ filming happened during the first wave of COVID and, according to Variety, “65″ finished production in February, 2021, and opened in theaters earlier this year, on March 10.
On May 30, “65″ will be available on 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition), Blu-ray and DVD. Those versions will include special features, such as “Creating the world of ‘65′”; “Primordial Planet”; deleted and extended scenes; “Final Showdown: Concepts to screen”; and more.
