A Multnomah County grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday against a Portland man, accusing him of shooting and killing a man at a Gresham MAX station July 1.
The indictment charges Hector Argueta-Navarrete with one count of second-degree murder with a firearm and two counts related to the unlawful use and possession of a firearm.
It accuses Argueta-Navarrete, 18, of “unlawfully and intentionally causing the death of Lucian Thibodeaux,” who was shot on the westbound MAX platform at East Burnside Street and 162nd Avenue.
A judge issued an arrest warrant last week for Argueta-Navarrete, but he is not in Multnomah County custody, according to jail records.
Gresham police say they responded to reports of a shooting a little after 5 a.m. on July 1 and found Thibodeaux, 43, on the MAX platform. They said he was taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Police have not said what led up to the shooting and whether the two men knew each other.
