Stanford wide receiver Michael Wilson was selected in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night by the Arizona Cardinals.
Wilson has a connection to a Portland pro soccer player — he is the boyfriend of Portland Thorns star and reigning NWSL MVP Sophia Smith, who also went to Stanford before joining the Thorns in 2020.
Wilson battled injuries at Stanford, but the 6-foot-2, 213-pound senior earned honorable mention all-Pac-12 in 2020 and 2022. In 39 games across five seasons, Wilson had 134 catches for 1,662 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Cardinals selected Wilson late in the third round, at No. 94 overall.
