The Portland Trail Blazers, who play Monday night at Detoit, will look to earn consecutive victories for the first time since winning three consecutive games more than a month ago.
The Blazers from Jan. 30 through Feb. 3 picked up wins over Atlanta at home, at Memphis and at Washington to move to 26-26.
The Blazers (30-34) have gone 4-8 since with their most recent victory coming Sunday at Orlando (27-38).
Playing in back-to-back games in the NBA is never easy, but the Blazers will be facing a Pistons team that has lost seven consecutive games and has been hit hard by injuries.
In addition to Cade Cunningham being out for the season, the Pistons (15-49) will be without Bojan Bogdanovic, Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart on Monday.
To avoid an upset, the Blazers must primarily overcome rookie Jaden Ivey, center Joe Wiseman and forward Marvin Bagley III. And maybe guard Killian Hayes, if he is able to go.
It’s a lineup that shouldn’t give the Blazers very much trouble. But, this is the NBA and the Blazers will be coming off of a hard-fought, 122-119 win at the Magic, another marginal team.
